I am blessed indeed
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7: 7-8Good advice this is. Even better is that it came from the Lord himself:)
Yesterday started off, continued, and ended delightfully:) Coordinating was a joy even tho i started off apprehensive. I mean, 25 plus kids is really something. Even with an assistant it's a big number to look after, and all boys too! But i wouldn't have traded the afternoon for anything. It was such a ruffly adventure and all the smiling that went on left me with a pleasant cheek-ache. Kids can be so funny. I discovered that they were pretty awful at guessing games with one boy asking if i was 48 and another whether i was 12! i doubt they were serious however, with the majority guessing within the 18-21 age bracket but i left them guessing themselves silly while i served toast:D the conversations spilled everywhere and to repeat them here would do them no justice, but that was an example i couldn't pass up. I felt younger but wiser after such an episode if that even makes sense, lol.
After that shift, i went out with Manda, Ellen & Marianne for dinner and bowling at AMF Westpoint. By the time our 3 games ended it was well past midnight so we drove to Homebush Olympic bay and settled in a deserted ferry wharf for some reflective chit chat. It was a sublime finale to farewell one day and begin another:D
And while I'm on the subject of impromptu outings, today mum called at like midday and asked: 'hey want to have buffet with us?'
[me] 'err ok'
[mum] 'right, wait outside and we'll be there in 2 minutes'
[me] ??!!!
The occasion was admittedly well justified seeing it was my baby brother's 13th birthday, but i was only starting to ungroggify myself when she gave me that 2 minutes notice so it started me like a hot shot. Tho dinner tonight will be probably be a relatively short affair thanks to all the nice buffet we had hehe. funny thing was that my other bro went to a mate's birthday bowling party instead of lunchin' with us, at the same place i went to last night! i was so tickled when i heard that. Anyway the good news doesn't end there -
I received an email today from a christian friend in HK who visited my grandparents this Wed and spent 2 days with them and the news is encouraging:) He wrote that he learnt a lot from them and was given opportunities to relate things to God. Plus he left them with 2 New Testament bibles which is something amazing. Now we pray they'll read it -and understand. I'm very blessed to have a role in linking God to people through my life but i need to be more active in the linking part. Now that the relationship between mother and me is improving i hope to use every opportunity to do what i can. It's hard but I won't forget to keep doing the 3 things Jesus advised: Asking, Seeking and Knocking.
P.S. This is a practical and affirming quote i got today.. note the verbs in particular: If you want to see God's power at work, you must get out of the church and into the world. Watch the extravagant lengths which God will go to reveal Himself to people who don't know Him. Then you will learn how truly awesome our God is -- Anon
