I can't believe that Steve Irwin has died. Just like that. It's one of those things you get so use to, that a particular person will always be around and you never think that death could be so close. He seemed so larger than life.. what a loss.

Only one other really famous death has struck me in a similar sort of way; where the news just hits you, makes you stop 'n' utter some unintelligible expletive by way of expressing the couplet of disbelief/shock, and that death was Princess Diana's. It's a bit incomparable really. But aside from all that promotional work for the environment, Australia, endangered animals, etc that he did, it comes down to himself as a character that will be most missed. If anyone embodied that fair dinkum Aussie spirit, he'd come to mind immediately. So this is my sort of eulogy to the 'crikey' man. You'll be missed.
