Uni so far
It's only been 3 days but I'm gonna record what's left of the "uni spirit". So far so good would be an understatement. It's been totally, absolutely, crazily, freakily and contradictorily fabulous! It's the whole deal!! I love that since the uni's so freakin huge, it feels somewhat like an Alice in Wonderland maze. What amazes me then is the number of PHS ppl I keep bumping into; Joey, Mary, Jeff, Adam, Tom O, Mel [front group], Joel, Sash & co, Peter, Jez etc and even a buddy I once knew in yr 3 o_O' One or two of them are in my lectures but they're so huge it's like trying to find an m'n'm amongst skittles.Anyway I'll talk about lectures coz they're what i've truly fallen in love with. Each of my 4 lecturers are totally diff yet totally hip in an anachronistic way. My stats lect whom i met today for the 1st time, greeted us by telling us to greet the person next to us coz we're basically "all alone and know noone"-subtle aint he? :D My chem lecturer is really funny coz he's old and knows too much chem. My bio lect is one of 3 -*correction* 6 i think- that will take us thru the vast bio topics (currently ecology) but my impression of her is also very high. She's concise, fast and expects a lot from us which is great. My Anth lect weaves stories from her own adventures and travels into her teachings and she has a cheshire cat sort of grin that makes you want to crack up.
And the most amazing thing???? I'm LEARNING!!. There's no gimmicks about it. Lessons started from day one, no "bludging" around. Then again, I've only had lectures -thanks to which I've been faced with great gaping holes in my timetable to the likes of tomorow for example where I only have a lecture from 9-10. Wow. To fill the space I booked myself for a 1/2 hr library tour ~can't hurt ey? oh boy, I would never expect chem to be my fave subject so far. I don't regret not choosing it as a hsc subject tho because my lect explains it so well i can visualise everything he says in my head -which means I'm actually going @ his pace. Unlike H-school where I was hit with all these technical terms without a clue why any of it was relevant and having to swallow my flood of questions coz noone else seemed not to get it; my lect brings chem alive, teaching us "the universe in reverse" as he calls the discipline.
Atm, I love studying- yeh you read me. I haven't gone thru my notes much tho. I've been too preoccupied with homework.. e-learning is awesome! And it's thrilling to now juggle work with uni- man i feel old -_-" I meet newbies everyday but to be honest I don't care if i get to know everyone or not. I like my learning space.. I like being able to walk into a lecture jungle of seats, pick one, then imaginatively disengage til my brain's needed. Atm, the most difficult aspect of uni is finding where all the toilets are on campus. I mean I was busting my ass after 3 straight hours of 3 diff lectures today, and I didn't want to step out of chem with potential liver damage. The closest loo was too far -what on earth was the architect thinking when he designed the place ?! Cheap food is also a major problem ~ $2 for an all-you-can-eat sausage sizzle..basically- bread, a huge wean, onions and sauce?!!! Wow. But the good & the bad, whatever the mix, it's all interesting and I'm having a fun time even if my wallet ain't; really it's still too early to comment as wk 2 commences nxt when the real work starts. Tuts, club activites, assignments and pracs are all hidden behind that intangible wall called time.
Til the tapping of that wall ..
