Kitties
I really want a cat - well a kitten to be precise. What flamed this was through breezing our local paper and finding that there are lots up for adoption at the cat protection society in Newtown. But weighing up their costs, the commitment of looking after them and not being around that often as a student has really stunted my proposal to rush out and bag a few kitties to play with. I know they aren't toys, but ohhh *groans* I would just love to know that i can take care of another living being for a very long time.. as I am planning to adopt kiddies one day too. So I guess in a way having a pet would be a good starting ground. Not that I've never had pets.. and I can take care of myself very well.. which is a must in order to care for something else. I think I'll wait for another 2 yrs to build up my finances and get use to my timetable before i rush into this. And I DO have a bamboo to maintain.. I like hardy things. That's why I want a kitty, coz they smart, clean themselves, they never change their personality and are meticulous in their toilet training - well @ least those were the facts given. And the Egyptians once feared them -not that this has ANYTHING to do with my decision making but it adds to their overall mystique. They have a strong sense of personality too, so i guess taking care of them is like taking care of another human which is stimulating.
Right now, I probably sound like I'm being extremely unequivocal regarding pet choice. let me reason:) As much as i love doggies, they would be much harder for me as a student to maintain, knowing how much they need daily TLC, not to mention baths, expenses and other tidbits.. I have taken care of a rabbit before which ran away within a week so don't think we're that compatible [even tho I'm born in the yr of the rabbit :D].. May already has 3 turtles which is to me the best type of pet for reasons too long to detail here and, well, yeah.. guineas and mice are smelly and not big enough to cuddle.. chicks and duckies are cute but that's it -they poo everywhere, their life spans do not warrant a close enough relationship to form and i don't like the idea of seeing them as walking meals-in-waiting [not that I'd see them as that but the majority do eat them to the point where I can't ignore that aspect.]
This is just covering the most common pets -!! oh i forgot fishies!!! :O how could i?? my last pet was a fish.. well, they're absolutely awesome and water creatures are the best, but their environment isn't particularly compatible with the large number of electrical items in my room.. oh and birds!! arrgh!! mm.. no. Caging a creature whose very movements represent freedom is cruelty personified and we get inquisitive lorikeets stopping over for breakfast at least once a week so I'm happy with the status quo:) Right, it feels good to write. Prepares me for uni anyhow:) Oh and I must record today's great day out with Mandoots :D I love the pressies she bought from overseas.. and the shopping today was right on! definitely a day well spent with one of my closest buds. No matter how much uni will become a second home over the nxt 4 yrs with new faces and places in the heart to be filled, old friends can never be replaced and nothing could feel better, i'd imagine, then 10 yrs down the track and the 2 of you discussing your wedding or something of great importance e.g :
them: I think I'll name my kid .. Jo
you: Why Jo?
them: i dunno
you: sooo.. anything else?
them: [10 min of deep thinking later] nup.
you: right... well I'm thinking of naming mine Robyn
them: ooh that's nice, I think I'll name mine Robyn instead..
you: -_-"
:D

Nah nah, toilet training bro! kitties learn to bury their dung from their mother, and I'd use a litter tray wouldn't you think?:P besides, they're naturally clean animals. Anyway, are you sure you can't scratch together 5 bucks by then? make that 10 inc train tickets ..uni is gonna rip us off bad ~ :O
